27 supermans

It's been a full two weeks since we checked into "Club Sutter." In some ways it feels like time has stood still. We've been so focused on the immediate needs here that we're finding ourselves asking each other, "Is this Tuesday or Wednesday?"

Isaiah has long lost count of the days. But he's excitedly tracking his stay by a little game we set up to try to get him to swallow his meds the first time: for every pill he swallows he gets a superman logo on the white board in his room. As of this morning, he's up to 27. We started by trying to gag down pills hidden in ice cream, oatmeal, yogurt...it was brutal. Somehow swallowing the pills with water alone became his chosen challenge. And this morning he told me, "Dad, I got that one down with just spit!"

Now if we can just convince him to take a bath (you know, you have to choose your battles...)
Thank you for praying for our son. We're so grateful.

Isaiah,

Hey... Lucas, Colby and Caleb here... "keep getting better, we hope you like our art work and keep on getting those Supermans on your board".
That's so cool that you have learned to get those pills down with just spit! Really, don't tell Lucas I told you, but he's almost ten and he just learned how to do that this year! It was QUITE an adventure too. Maybe we should have tried the Superman trick. :0)
You and Sienna look great in your picture today. Such happy kids... that's what we ALL like to see! Get some good rest and get those super powers charged. Lots of hugs coming your way...

Love,

Tami and "the boys"

Isaiah,
It is so good to see the progress that you have made in your photo and Sienna, it's wonderful to see you smiling. Your faith is an inspiration to us all. Gilbert realized that we got our "mans" mixed up...the basketball Spiderman...you can sure tell we don't have little kids around...I'm sorry. Anyway, both of these Superhero's remind me of you...an amazing guy who thinks about others above himself. In fact, I do believe Jesus was a Superhero just like you Isaiah.

Nathan and Carmen...your little superhero is experiencing this challenge to prepare for his future. He will be a great leader that will change many lives. Our prayers are with you.
Love,
The Picos Family

27 SUPERMANS!!!!! Isaiah you are amazing! You are such a pro at taking pills now :D Hopefully you won't have to do that for much longer though and can use your superpowers for other things. Did you know that Superman's powers get stronger when he is in the bath!!!! Can you believe it!!! Maybe you should try it out!!

Great to see you smiling. We miss you guys and will continue to pray for healing, strength and peace.

Much love

I'm so proud of you Isaiah! I remember when I first learned to swallow pills, too. Now you won't ever have to worry about how you're going to take your medicine. I hope you are feeling better today, and that God's love is shining down on you! :) I prayed a prayer for you this morning... did you feel it? :)

Isaiah,

Hey little dude, I wish I was there to see your smiling face. You're amazing, just remember that. Even if you're getting all stinky from no bath, I still love you. I'm taking pills right now too, but I just pretend they're the Flintstone vitamins, and it seems to work.

Hi Sienna, I miss you too. Give your brother a big hug for me.

Love you guys,

Pick

Little man!!

Don't tell anyone this, but I can't even swallow pills with just my spit. That's awesome!!

I've been listening to one of your favorite songs. You know the "I'm a believer!!!" song? Maybe you, me, and Sienna can dance around singing it sometime soon!

I love you and miss you, little buddy!

Isaiah, I love the picture of you squeezing your sister in a big hug. It looks like she likes it too. Your arms must be getting stronger.
I can't believe it took only your spit to get that pill to go down your throat! I have to turn my head on its side and drink with only half my mouth. It looks pretty silly. I love you, Amazing Kid. Love, Pam

Isaiah,

Reading the words that you have been saying reminds me again why Jesus said "We must become like children". I'm continuing to pray for you and your family.
