rough night, encouraging morning

Isaiah s t r u g g l e d for over 10 hours yesterday to poop. He was really hurting. The meds stop him up. We've never prayed so much for poop. After BMs at 1:30 a.m., 3:30 a.m., 5:30 a.m., and 8 a.m., he's smiling again.

Today's a big day - spinal tap and bone marrow draw at 3. The results are key.

Here are some words we're hanging onto today:

from Darrell, the dad of Matthew, Isaiah's roommate: There are some things that God says that just don't make sense unless you're suffering.

from Isaiah, early this morning while he was receiving a platelet infusion: Why do you cry sometimes when you're happy? (me: are you happy now?) Yes...because I finally feel better.

(Isaiah continues) Do you remember that movie about the football team, Dad? (me: I think so) If we win, we'll praise God. If we lose we'll praise God.

Hi Isaiah,

I am so glad you are feeling better. We will be praying for you today while the tests are done. Emma drew you a picture yesterday that we will send to you. She made sure to draw your dark curly hair. We love to hear how God is protecting you all and speaking to all of us through this time. We love you all! Tell Sienna hi and Emma would love to see her if she's up to it.

Nate and Carmen,

Just wanted to send you some words from Ben. I was telling him about Isaiah and showing him the photos of Isaiah and he pointed out three of the pictures and said "I want this one and this one and this one" I asked him why and he said he wanted to put them under his bed. I again asked why and he said, "Because it's the safest place." We all are praying and know Isaiah is in the safest place, the arms of God.

Hi Isaiah!
You REALLY are such a strong boy! I am so blessed by your words and attitude during this time. We are praying some special prayers for healing today, as you get your test results soon. I also pray that the tests weren't too hard on you! I forgot to tell you the other day when I wrote that I missed your sweet face when we sang in church. I look forward to singing with you again soon, okay? You've always been a great helper for me... I'll miss that while you're gone. Keep being strong... showing the rest of us how it's done!

I just want you to know that I'm praying for you... just as I know that many others are, everyday. I want you and your family to be encouraged as well... because I've been down a much similar road myself. I was diagnosed with cancer when I was a little girl... and took all the icky medicines and had all the tests done too. And here I am, 20+ years later... and cancer-free!!

Isaiah, you are an amazing boy! You are so brave, and your sweet smile gives me inspiration!

Take care,

Sara Becker(Beers)

I love your big smile.
Your stories make me laugh.
You have sweet eyes.
You have a gentle spirit.
You are the strongest boy I know.
You show your sister that you love her.
You're named after your daddy, one of my most favorite people.
You love Jesus and you show others how to love Jesus too.
